Ki te Hoe – a learning journey for leaders

Are you a leader in philanthropy or social change in Aotearoa NZ who wants to deepen your understanding, connection and support of Te Ao Māori and Māori aspirations?  If so, check out the 2025 Ki te Hoe Wānanga series – we would love to have you come along!

Ki te Hoe (literally ‘to the paddle’ or ‘let’s get going’), is a seven-month learning journey for a group of between 15 and 25 board members, managers and other leaders, ideally two per organisation.  Through three marae-based wānanga and four on-line hui, we explore history, engage with Māori communities, learn tikanga, deepen our understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, consider our family histories and sense of belonging, explore power and privilege, and more.  Then we apply these learnings to our professional work and our personal lives.

Now in its fourth year, Ki te Hoe is run by Tūmanako Consultants and is co-facilitated by Haimona Waititi, Trent Hohaia, myself and others.  In previous years this has been offered to leaders in philanthropy, however this year we are broadening the group to include leaders in both philanthropy and social change.

Curious?  There’s more information on dates, costs and registering your interest here.   And just let us know if you want to kōrero to learn more, or to talk with previous participants .  Come join us!

  1. So grateful for my Ki te Hoe experience.  Thank you Kate, Haimona and the Tūmanako crew for all that you do in this space.  Highly recommend and I hope more leaders take the opportunity to join.
